After the late Alexander McQueen passed away in 2010, and the British fashion house was taken over by Sarah Burton, the showcase of the collection had been since held in Paris. Last season however, the brand released a collection that was immensely influenced by London itself. The brand is getting deeply in touch by its root by displaying pieces inspired by refugees who fled from France to settle around Spitalfields during the 17th century.
Accordingly, it seems to be quite aligned when the British Fashion Council announced that Alexander McQuen’s AW16 womenswear show will be run in its hometown, London. Whilst the Menswear section was already relocated permanently to London, the brand stated that this womenswear show move is only temporary. It will be joining London Fashion Week for Autumn/Winter 2016 while the seasonal presentation of the brand will still be held in Paris. It is also confirmed that the show will take place at 7pm on Sunday, February 21 while the exact venue is yet to be announced. And although temporary, it’s quite assured that the audience will gladly welcome Alexander McQueen back home.
