It has been announced, the Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha and her artist husband James Conran would debut a contemporary sportswear collection in collaboration with Los Angeles-based fashion collective Paragon Project. Dubbed Co+Co, the line will be available on the model’s website which will relaunch as a ‘lifestyle network’ by late January, as well as US and international retailers.
“I have always been interested in having my own clothing collection,” she said. “It’s always been in my mind to do it. But sometimes models are not taken seriously in this field. We’re to pose in the clothing but we don’t necessarily have our own point of view. But Paragon knew from conversations on day one that I was going to be very hands-on. They like that, rather than someone who comes in and only says, ‘Yes, no and maybe.”
Rocha, who serves as the designer as well as ambassador for the brand takes a high involvement on the development and styling as the key. Taking movement and inspiration from ‘The Study of Pose’, a book in which she showcased 1000 unique poses, each shot from 100 angles by Steven Sebring, She described its aesthetic as clean and sophisticated, featuring materials like scuba and details like tape-sealed seams. The architecturally inspired collection will consist of 60-piece contemporary sportswear, taking a direction more towards streetwear rather than athleisure, and priced between $80 and $300.
