New York’s very own Willy Wonka pop-up dubbed as, the Museum of Ice Cream — a lick-able, likeable and shareable ice cream-centric wonderland. The pop-up announcement caused epic meltdowns — ice-cream lovers bolted to secure a ticket, and the event sold-out quick to 30,000 reservations. But don't worry if you weren't able to grab one, because you’ll surely get a chance to experience it through your social media feed. It's obvious that the Museum of Ice Cream is designed to be Instagrammed experience, and New Yorkers all seem to have had the same idea because, the venue is a world of pure imagination.
Beginning open on July 29, the tour of the museum starts with one ice cream scoop curated by one dessert parlor around New York including Blue Marble with Kellogg’s, Black Tap, OddFellows Ice Cream Co., McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams & Maman and Chinatown Ice Cream Factory. And there's a menu to look up which Scoop you’ll indulge on your visit.
The Museum promised an urban ice cream playground and you’ll get more than enough interior inspiration for that. From Ice cream cone pendant lamps to the cone wall to an edible balloon stand (stock is limited). And what’s exciting is you have the chance to contribute to the “World’s Largest Ice Cream Sundae.” After a scoop lesson, you can throw a scoop of Ice cream into a golden sundae bowl. And No, the ice cream will not melt, because it contains an enzyme to prevent melt.(cool)
Next, they have Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Chamber that smells like chocolate, the ground is coated with chocolate-covered almonds and there’s a gushing chocolate spray. There’s a large chocolate beanbag and you can lay on it. To all chocolate lovers, well this one is definitely for you.
One of the most hyped exhibits at the museum was the swimming pool filled with 11,000 pounds of sprinkles. Sadly, it's not a real sprinkle which is not edible. But still, you can dip into the sprinkle pool via a mock dive board and take those Instagram selfies — there's even an overhead mirror to help you with that.
Maryellis Bunn as the founder of the museum said, "Ice cream is a passion and this is the project to share, lick and like with the wold." The Museum of Ice Cream opens July 29 to August 31, 2016 at 11AM-3PM.
