With her tousled hair, effortless style and her penchant for vintage details, Alexa Chung has maintained her style icon status beyond her years as TV personality star. Indeed, if there are people who spread the normcore moevement, Chung—who sported peterpan collared dress and messy bob in red carpet before it was cool—would be one we deemed most responsible. Although evolving, there’s a certain air of Chung-esque style that people are still look up to until now. Therefore, it only seems to fit when British retailer Marks & Spencer taps the style star to curate their best vintage pieces.
The collaboration however, is unlike the other stick-your-name-on-the-label approach often seems to be used by other brands . Admitting to always been affectionate towards Marks & Spencer, Chung studied the brand’s 132 years of fashion archive to hand pick an array of standout pieces. The final selection consists of 31 items like navy double breasted blazer, mini dress with high neckline, slip-dresses, and other style staples which strikingly resembles Chung’s personal style. It also includes pieces like Frances coat from M&S 1950 and pink Harry shirt which is based on a similar high-necked, pie-crust collar blouse, originally sold in 1982.
All the selected pieces, whilst hand-picked from the vintage Marks & Spencer pieces, still hold a timeless appeal any vintage style aficionado should appreciate. The Archive by Alexa collection has hit the worldwide stores in April 13. To get a glimpse of British fashion and social history, browse along the collection in the store nearest to you.
