RAINS Let It Rain

RAINS Let It Rain

If there is one thing that will make us adore rain besides its melancholic atmosphere, it will be RAINS, as they made rainy days more beautiful and inspiring.

Describing themselves as a reinterpretation of the traditional raincoat, the brand was established in a combination of the modern city life with all its diversity and colorfulness and the need for practical outwear, making the modern people’s need of combining style and function their foundation.

After being founded in 2012, this Danish brand has been defying the Danish weather ever since. The country has a yearly average of 121 rainy days, due to the fact that it is situated at the edge of the European continent, close to the seas and in the middle of the West Wind Belt.

Their collection for Autumn/Winter 2015 features a palette of neutral colors on an array of long jackets, anoraks, and ponchos. The pieces are simple with a solid use of dusty taupe and its combination with the classic navy blue. The collection also includes two – obviously weatherproof – bag styles.

RAINS also opens its doors to collaboration projects. Recently they partnered with Colette, which designed a fresh take on the brand’s classic rain jacket, giving it a blue body and grey sleeves. The jacket features a print on the chest made by New York-based artist Craig Redman (the whimsical Darcel Disappoints character is put under a rain cloud). This jacket will be offered exclusively to the French retailer in 50 examples for 125USD. Wait for it onlineand in-store starting October 1.

Another collaboration is with Montreal’s Off The Hook. Keeping in line with the AΩ project, RAINS created anorak in the grey and blue color scheme. The utilitarian design sports a brimmed hood with a small inscription that reads, “I am the Alpha and the Omega.” The greek letters A and Ω also appear on the right shoulder in reflective grey 3M. This anorak will be available in limited quantities on September 22 in-store and online.
