Another short film is recently added into Karl Lagerfeld’s filmography. This time he teamed up with actress Kristen Stewart, who is also an ambassador for Chanel since 2013. In this short film she’s playing as the legendary Coco Chanel, alongside with Geraldine Chaplin who plays as an older Chanel.
After previously working with Keira Knightley in a short film titled “Once Upon a Time” in 2013 –which was also a tale about Coco Chanel—this time Lagerfeld tries to narrate the similar story in another light. In “Once and Forever” he’s trying to reminisce on Coco Chanel as she really was, her youth, and her beauty—things beyond the vision that the public has on her as an old lady who wore a lot of pearls.
The movie has quite a different plot from the previous one. It revolves around Stewart’s character which is portrayed as a young actress, taking a role as Coco Chanel. Lagerfeld, however, wanted the movie to be modern, thus portraying Stewart as a modern woman, with modern attitude, behaving as some movie stars would on the red carpet these days.
While the actual film will be shown as the prelude to the Chanel Métiers d'art collection in Rome this December 1st, at Cinecittà, you can watch the teaser here.
