Nala: A Sense of Solace

Nala: A Sense of Solace

Craving for some caffeine, we took a spin through the buzzing Jakarta late-morning traffic. Our destination would be the AD Premiere office at the TB Simatupang road, home to the charming corner of Nala – where you can escape from the city’s chaos.

Nestled on a mezzanine of the white washed lobby, a spiral staircase acts as a door to this compact café. The steps open up to the minimal space of soft hues and wood accents, which immense glass walls and high ceiling keeps it from being confined. The generously sunlit space also got a further zen exposure with the pool of water surrounding the exterior of the building.

There is no wasted element at the straightforward and clean Nala. A slender counter together with a handful of tables and chairs added just the right amount of visual pleasure whilst serving its purpose. The only décor to this comfortable spot are the tiny potted plants – which honestly is all it needs.

When the barista started working on our orders, the fragrant smell of coffee started to fill the air. We learned that they could take custom orders, as we also asked for a cup of flat white that wasn’t on the menu – wonderful, isn’t it? They would also give a cup on the house if you have 10 stamps on the loyalty card. However, such promotion is unnecessary. We would have gone back to Nala even without any rewards, for it embodies how a perfect afternoon feels like.
