The French fashion house Maison Margiela has stepped into the eternal city, making its mark in the Italian capital with its very first Rome boutique. The brand new 296m2 store can be found on Via del Babuino between Piazza del Popolo and Piazza di Spagna.
Hosted in an ancient Roman building full of interconnecting rooms, this two-leveled space is based off of a mirror effect, playing with the floors and ceilings in order to create vanishing volumes and pespectives. Taking on the Haussmann aesthetic of a Parisian apartment, the décor is also filled with white marble, white cotton oak, white confetti, and chrome steel. A white horizontal line extends throughout the entire boutique, separating the interior into two.
The boutique dedicated its ground floor to menswear, but womenwear is also available along with all the Maison’s accessory lines such as leather goods, sunglasses, fine jewelry, and design objects. Together, this boutique very well represents Maison Margiela’s mysterious elegance.
