Taking on the classic art technique of leather marquetry (a technique where veneer patterns are carefully affixed onto furniture), Spanish fashion house Loewe adds its own spin by applying graphic leather designs for Salone del Mobile 2016 Furniture Fair in Milan. Loewe is set to present a set of oak furniture in unique designs infused with fragments of leather in various shapes and colours. The manual technique involves inlaying leather of different colours and shapes together to create a unique patchwork—a work of exquisite craftsmanship.
Helmed by creative director Jonathan Anderson, six pieces of early 20th-century British furniture are presented, including a large wardrobe and two Baillie Scott chairs that have been decorated with drawings of flowers, landscapes and other figures. Lamps and cigar boxes are also showcased, in addition to notebooks and leather pouches that Loewe will be making available in stores. Here's a preview of what to look out for at Salone Del Mobile 2016.
This year’s Salone del Mobile Furniture Fair will be taking place from April 12 to 17 at Quartiere Fiera Milano, Rho (Milano), Italy.
