A few weeks back, WWD speculated that Gosha Rubchinskiy was set to launch a new fragrance, and, guess what? Gosha’s parent company, COMME des GARCONS, has just officially unveiled the scent. Simply dubbed Gosha Rubchinskiy, the eponymous, unisex fragrance takes cues from the youthful skate scene that inspires his clothing. It even features a wooden cap as a nod to the prototypical skate deck. Rubchinskiy said in a statement:
I think it’s a smell for young people. It’s not for men or women — it’s like COMME des GARÇONS perfumes in the idea that I want some girls using their boyfriend’s perfume; it’s more like an art piece than a perfume. That’s why we are doing the launch during Frieze; it’s an art thing.
Set to launch on October 8 and priced at $88 (€76 in Europe), the fragrance launch will be accompanied by a special photo book featuring snaps taken by Rubchinskiy himself. And the fragrance will drops at Dover Street Market London, Comme des Garçons Trading Museum and Comme des Garçons Parfums shops in Paris. It’ll then hit DSM NY and DSM Ginza (in Tokyo) in November, and in January it will be distributed to a yet-t0-be-announced network of retailers.
