Based in Bandung, Environmental Jewelry became an established sustainable jewelry label in May 2014 driven by designer couple Ega & Julia (EJ). Obviously, our love for local products is one among the reasons why we fell in love with the brand, but of course they are way more than just locally made. Their unique standpoint lays on the fact that their jewelries are carefully handcrafted using dry rice grain, alongside resin, brass, and silver.
The idea of establishing the label came to Julia while she was doing a project on sustainable goods, after she finished her Master in Fashion Design at London’s Kingston University. And with the help of her designer partner, Ega, Environmental Jewelry was born.
The whole concept of the brand was inspired by the detailed nature as well as the term “sustainable luxury”, in which they believe people can still achieve affluence using sustainable materials that are not usually associated with luxury itself. Their use of rice yields an exciting surprise into a range of delicate, beautiful timeless pieces that speak about subtle statements.
