As of yesterday, the world was shaken with the grieving news that an influential icon, David Bowie, has passed away. All at once, the whole world mourned, expressing their loss through every social media platforms. Ever so intensely, until all the headlines were plastered with the images of the late star. But apparently, there are a lot of other ways to pay a heartfelt tribute than merely using the #RIP hashtag. In their menswear runway, Burberry decides to pay an ode to the departed musician.
Happens to occur in the same time as the devastating news, Burberry Fall 16 menswear show were dusted with signs that play as a nod to the Legend’s departure. Burberry’s chief creative officer, Christopher Bailey send down the models with Ziggy Stardust inspired makeup by putting glitters on the model’s eye, which is according to his statement to Cosmopolitan was a last minute decision.
Another small but touching gesture of homage was done by model Hayett McCarthy. As the model approached the end of the runway, she opened her hands to reveal the word “Bowie” written across her right and left palms. All these tribute that Burberry showed managed to do well in representing the world’s loss of this brilliant influencer.
